Now, before the feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that His hour had come that He should depart from this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end (John 13:1).
”And yet if I do judge, My judgment is true; for I am not alone, but I am with the Father who sent Me....And He who sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him” (John 8:16, 29).

Now from the sixth hour until the ninth hour there was darkness over all the land. And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” that is, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me [left Me]” (Matt. 27:46)?
And when He was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem according to the custom of the feast.... And He said to them, “Why do you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business” (Luke 2:40, 49)?
”... I do nothing of Myself, but as My Father taught Me, I speak these things” (John 8:28b). “I have not spoken on My own authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command what I should say and what I should speak” (John 12:49).
”If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.... He who has seen Me has seen the Father ... the words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority, but the Father who dwells in Me does the works” (John 14:7, 9b, 10b). Then Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son does in like manner” (John 5:19).
He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made (John 1:2, 3). For by Him [Christ] all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth ... All things were created by Him and for Him (Col. 1:16). [God] has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds (Hebrews 1:2). Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness” (Gen. 1:28a).
But He said to them, “I have food to eat of which you do not know.... My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work” (John 4:32, 34). Therefore the Jews sought all the more to kill Him, because He not only broke the Sabbath, but also said that God was His Father, making Himself equal with God (John 5:18). For many deceivers have gone out into the world who do not confess Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh [in the likeness of men]. This is a deceiver and an antichrist (2 John 7).
”I have many things to say to you but you cannot bear them now. However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak of His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come” (John 16:12-13).
Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel” (Isaiah 7:14). Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?” And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is born will be called the Son of God” (Luke 1:34-35). For in Him [Christ] dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily (Col. 2:9).
And John bore witness, saying, “I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and He remained upon Him. I did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ‘Upon whom you see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, this is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit’” (John 1:32-33). When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him (Matt. 3:16). And the Holy Spirit, descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him (Luke 3:22a). [Better translated: “And the Holy Spirit, in bodily form, descended like a dove upon Him.”]
”...I know where I came from and where I am going” (John 8:14)... And supper being ended ... Jesus, knowing ... that He had come from God and was going to God, rose from supper and ... began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded (John 13:2-5).
”In My Father’s house are many mansions [dwellings or dwelling places]” (John 14:2a). But Christ as a Son over His own house, whose house we are (Hebrews 3:6a)... For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, you are God’s building (1 Cor. 3:9). Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word, and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him [make him Our home]” (John 14:23).
”And if I go and prepare a place for you [make it possible for you to be a dwelling place], I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also” (John 14:3). “That they may all be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me” (John 17:21). “At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you” (John 14:20).
”However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth ... He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you [declare it yours]. Therefore I said He will take of mine and declare it to you [assign it to you] (John 16:13a, 14b, 15b).
”I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life that I now live in the flesh [I.E., as a human being] I live by [the] faith [that is] in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me” (Gal. 2:20). Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world (1 John 4:17).
”You have heard Me say to you, ‘I am going away and coming back to you.’ If you loved Me, you would rejoice because I said, ‘I am going to the Father,’ for My Father is greater than I” (John 14:28). Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage [expedient] that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper [Holy Spirit] will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you” (John16:7). “Behold, I send the Promise [Holy Spirit] of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power [endued with the Promise] from on high” (Luke 24:49).
”And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel” (Gen. 3:15). “In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice” (Gen. 22:18). Now to Abraham and his Seed were the promises made, He does not say, “And to seeds,” as of many, but as of one, “And to your Seed,” who is Christ (Gal. 3:16). “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain” (John 12:24).
”And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him [into Him] should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:14-15). Then Jesus said to them, “When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He” (John 8:28a). “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day” (John 6:44). “As You [God] have given Him [Christ] authority over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as You have given Him” (John 17:2).
”And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw all peoples to Myself.” This He said, signifying by what death He would die (John 12:32-33).
Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil (Matt. 4:1). Now when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from Him until an opportune time (Mark 4:13).
[He prayed] saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup from Me; nevertheless not My will but Yours be done.” Then the angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him. And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling to the ground. When He rose up from prayer, and had come to His disciples, He found them sleeping (Luke 22:42-45).
”Now My soul is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save Me from this hour’? But for this purpose I came to this hour” (John 12:27). Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has set down at the right hand of throne of God (Heb. 12:2). “Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many” (Matt. 20:28). “Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have the power to lay it down, and I have the power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father” (John 10:17-18).
Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise Him (Isaiah 53:10). “For truly against Your holy Servant Jesus, whom You anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, were gathered together to do whatever Your hand and Your purpose determined before to be done” (Acts 4:27-28). He who did not spare His own son, but delivered Him up for us all. how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things (Romans 8:32). For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him [into Him] should not perish but have everlasting life [the only and exact same Life of the Father, of the Son, and of the Spirit] (John 3:16). But he who is joined to the Lord in one spirit with Him (1 Cor. 6:17). And this is the testimony; that God as given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son, has [this] life; he who does not have the Son does not have [this] life (1 John 5:11-12).
